Gratitude for Hearing- Temporary Hearing Loss
Daughter Of…
Hey-Heyy Beautiful People,
Respectfully, I have been resting, healing, and giving energy to frequencies deserving of my energy. Part of my resting assignment has been watching creative content nurturing to my soul. An amazing body of work I have been watching repeatedly has been the documentary, In Our Mothers’ Gardens directed By Shantrelle P. Lewis. The documentary speaks to the narratives of Black Women juxtaposed with conversations of healing, spirituality, family lineage, and mother-daughter relationships.
Listen, the film was healing. The film made me feel seen and heard. To see beautiful Black women eloquently discussing the intersections in which Black women exists cultivated a safe space I didn’t know I needed. The film was a whole sermon! There were many notable moments. In the film I noticed, the orators said the names of their ancestors so proudly and so boldly!
As the orators called out their ancestors, I felt guilt. I felt guilt in not being able to call out the name of my ancestors. So, in true Peach fashion I began to research. I did my Googles. I found the names of my maternal ancestors. To be honest, my ancestors were ready for me to find them. My genealogy search was a seamless process. Their names appeared easily!
The women in my family are strong, bold, creative, badass, spiritual… I could go on and on. From Oklahoma to Alabama to Chicago…these Afro-Indigenous (Shawnee-Cherokee) women didn’t take no shit.
I say all this to say, I will forever call my ancestors!
I am Dr. Peach daughter of…
Bebe daughter of…
Essie Mae McClure daughter of… (My Grandmother)
Thelma Claudia Lee daughter of… (My Great-Grandmother)
Nettie M. Cox (Lee) daughter of… (My Great-Great-Grandmother)
Dora Cox… (My Great-Great-Great-Grandmother)
These are a few of the notable women shoulders I stand on! These are the women who sacrificed for me to be in my very position. I will continue to speak their names. Also, please belief I will continue researching the paternal and maternal sides of my mother’s and father’s lineage, as those ancestors names deserved to be called as well.
If you takeaway nothing from this blog post takeaway the following, watch the film In Our Mothers Gardens and research/learn who your ancestors are.

The Art of Doing Nothing
Hello! It has been sometime since I last wrote a blog post. Over two months to be exact. In full transparency, I needed time to rest. I was doing too much! Over working, barely sleeping, helping people as much as I could, and stressing! As a result, my body subtly started to cue me with “hey sit down somewhere”. Did I listen to those cues, nope! I continued my busy schedule.
In directly, the universe sent signs through amazing doctors, dentists, and my momma. All parties telling me to chill out, caught my attention. The buildup of self-induced stressed was not worth my life. I knew I needed to make changes to get the stress off me. Me being me, before I could chill out I wanted to get very clear on what that process would look like. I can admit, I over think and over plan…working to shift from this behavior.
In my hiatus a lot of good changes were made. I reduced my workload and gained schedule flexibility. I celebrated my birthday with a dreamy bohemian picnic. Thank you to everyone who wished me happy birthday and sent meaningful gifts. I have gotten back to a regular workout routine. I have more time to study. I have time to rest. My stress levels have drastically dropped!
With learning to live stress free, not going to lie I began to feel guilty. I felt like I should be doing something or be busy. It took me sometime to embrace the art of doing nothing. Literally, doing nothing! I believed in the societal notion of overworking to earn my leisure, which is not the case.
What I now know is that we are all deserving of a life of leisure. Overworking and getting to the bag in a stressful way is a joke. The type of lifestyle society suggests we should be living is not sustainable. We should focus on the art of doing nothing. We should enjoy the sweetness of life daily, and not just on weekends and vacations. In doing nothing, clarity enhances, creativity expands, manifestations come quicker, and we embody gratitude for life.
Right now, I am on the journey of embracing the art of doing nothing. Granted, I still have responsibilities (adulting does not stop) but I determine how much of my time is allocated to those responsibilities. No longer will I go back to a lifestyle of trading all my time for money. It is not worth it!
I will be sharing updates on my progress.
Until next time,
-Peach
Black History Month: Inspiration Series…Vegan Influencers
Hey- Heyy Beautiful People,
To close out Black History Month, I wanted to share vegan influencers who inspire my vegan journey. As a one-year vegan, I am constantly seeking new knowledge. Some days I spend hours searching for new recipes and products. As plant-based eating becomes less taboo its honorable to see Black people taking up space in the vegan community. Seeing Black people recreate the very meals we love in our culture out of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and grains… I am in awe knowing that plant-based living isn’t as challenging as people assume it to be.
The vegan influencers who inspire me are listed below along with a brief sample of their digital content. If your curious to learn more about these vegan influencers, they can be found online using the names mentioned below. If your considering going vegan or want to minimize your meat consumption, I highly recommend checking out these dope vegans.

Black History Month: Inspiration Series… Affirmations
Good day beautiful people,
In starting a new week there is nothing I love more than affirming the type of week I want to have. To start the week off right, I affirm my week/day with words. Affirming words always puts me in a space of mindfulness when setting a new intention for the week. Very often, I search online for affirmation videos. When I search, I am intentional about representation. Meaning, I like to hear my people talk-that-talk. No shade to other affirmation videos, but representation does matter!
In my search for new affirmation videos, I stumbled across some dope content. Below are affirmation videos created by Ayesha Noelle. Queen Ayesha, thank you creating affirming work to uplift our frequencies. In setting intentions for a new week, let the affirmation videos help to guide you.

Black History Month: Inspiration Series
Beautiful people,
Happy Black History Month! This year for Black History Month will be an inspiration series. For February, I will be sharing content from Black creators who have inspired me. Inspired me to heal. Inspired me to create. Inspired me to find purpose. Inspired me to dream bigger. Inspired me to enjoy life.
When content is created, we never know who is watching or who it will impact. In some capacity, those who create content know it will influence and potentially inspire people.
My first Black History Month inspiration is, The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl web series created by Issa Rae. Last week the web series celebrated it’s 10-year anniversary. The show originally debuted in 2011. I remember stumbling across this series in my 20s. Back in the day, I would watch the show on my lunch break laughing hysterically because the show mirrored my life. This show was the first time I felt seen and heard. The show made me realize it was okay to be an introvert and not have life figured out. This show inspired me to be myself even if it was awkward.
Thank you to Issa Rae for following your intuitive nudge to create a show, which impacted the lives of millions. If you have never seen the web series before, I highly encourage you to watch it.
Until next time,
-Peach

Everyone’s Awakening Journey is Different
Everyone’s awakening journey is different. However, if we let the internet tell it all you have to do is…burn sage, buy some plants, buy a few crystals, and boom your magically woke!
Truth is, the awakening journey is not that simple. Everyone’s awakening journey is different and for valid reasons. Although, everyone shares commonality in having a triggering moment or several triggering experiences forcing the awakening process. It’s on us in whether we choose to listen when we are called into awakening.
When we choose to go fourth on our awakening journey…
- We tend to feel lost.
- Have feelings of loneliness.
- Question the purpose of life.
- Question the relationships we cultivated.
- May loose joy in certain things that use to feel fulfilling.
The range of growth we go through in an awakening process is intended to birth a new version of ourselves. To get to the new version of ourselves we must see the awakening journey in its entirety.
Once we awaken, the real work is in continuing to stay awakened. We must do our work every day. If you have found yourself in the midst of an awakening journey, just know it does get better. You will make it to the other side if you continue to do the work. From my personal experience, I would have never imagined I would have grown this abundantly back in 2016/2017.
To make your awakening process more simplified here’s what I suggest:
- Trust the process.
- Research awakening journeys and symptoms.
- Connect with people who have gone through an awakening journey.
- Show up as your authentic self as you continue to evolve.
Until next time,
-Peach
